Grid Project

Grid Brief

For this brief i was asked to focus on a 2 mile radius of my house in Manchester , deciding on a route that i could walk / drive every day. From this we was asked to gather primary research such as sketches , photographs ad rubbing's and develop our work from there , exploring different avenues from buildings , people or objects we see on our walk that inspires us.On my walk there are a substantial amount of mills as Manchester was once famous for its industrial revolution and so i decided to use this as a focus point and branch out from there.

This is another of my final pieces. instead of using just charcoal i added a light was of acrylic paint , i did the paint quite thin and watery which created drips on the bottom of my work ( and unfortunately all over my wall). This piece is bigger than the previous - 8ft x 16ft. Im fairly pleased with this work allthough i wish i had more time to add more detail and make it a better quality as i think its slightly rushed , none the less im still pleased.

This was an experimental piece using acrylic paint,i had to use acrylic paint because it was only on paper and i think it would of ruined the quality ( as well as my wall ) if i had used oils . i would like to start using oils more but canvas is very expensive so for now ill have to make do wit paper. On this picture i also used charcoal and chalk and mixed different shades of grey with the charcoal using my rubber, i also used a mildly wet paintbrush to spread charcoal to mix it with the paint.
